Peri-Acetabular Osteotomy (PAO) is a hip preservation surgical procedure commonly used to correct a congenital or developmental deformity of the acetabulum known as Acetabular Dysplasia. A PAO procedure consists in the resection of the bone around the acetabulum in order to allow the repositioning of the hip socket in the correct position to provide a better coverage to the femoral head and reduce the dysplasia.

Medacta International developed MyPAO, a planning system based on CT scans processing used to segment patient’s bones to perform the Pre-Operative 3D planning of the peri-acetabular osteotomy. MyPAO Planning System provides surgeons with a planning report complete of parameters of interest to be used to properly plan the manual repositioning of the acetabulum during the surgical procedure. On request, also bone models in reoriented position can be provided to the surgeons.
